Me Ginzburg’s passion for criminal law was clear from the very beginning of his university studies.
While studying Economics and Political Science at McGill University, he was able to learn about the intricate relationship between politics and the law. He also got to develop an understanding for the economics of crime, winning an award for Best Case Study and going on to become a Teaching Assistant. During his time at McGill, Me Ginzburg was also a member of the McGill Redmen football team, earning Academic All-Canadian honours.
While studying law at Université du Québec à Montréal, Me Ginzburg focused his attention almost exclusively on criminal law. During his first few years, he won numerous debate competitions and also became involved with the Quebec Innocence Project, a non-profit organization which seeks to review and help overturn cases of wrongful convictions. In his final year, Me Ginzburg was chosen to represent UQAM in the Gale Cup, Canada’s foremost national mooting competition. He moved on to the final round, pleading before a panel of distinguished judges including Justice Richard R. Wagner of the Supreme Court of Canada. He and his teammates finished 2nd overall among nearly 20 law schools, and also won the prize for 2nd best factum.
